The second step of the AAA process is action, which focuses on identifying the effects and solutions of an environmental quality problem.
--> Pre-assessment = identification of the thresholds of the problem (temperature range, extent of pollution, etc).
--> The field work involved assesses the severity of the problem and is carried out by local environmental programs (TOC and stream restoration).
