First step of the AAA Process is Awareness, which focuses on identifying the environmental quality problem.
--> Environmental quality issues may be region-specific (e.g. increase in bacteria due to high, humid climate in the state of Florida, increased copper content in water due to mining in the Rockies, die-off of trees due to disease in the temperate forests of Virginia); however, most will be locality-specific (e.g. dam blocking off river flow, isolated section of stream requires rerouting, runoff from a cattle farm). Some issues may even be present nation-wide, such as rising temperatures, presence of culverts, and climate change.
